Services for Homeowners

We work with you to maintain and improve your home and manage the challenges of homeownership.

Increase Your Home’s Energy Efficiency

Housing Resources provides free energy improvement services to qualifying households in collaboration with the Colorado Energy Office Weatherization Assistance Program. Improvements to your house will reduce energy usage, lower utility bills, and increase year-round comfort.

Who is Eligible?

Recipients of the following assistance programs are automatically eligible:

  • Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Aid to the Needy and Disable (AND)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Renters can also qualify with agreement from their landlord.
  • If you are not currently enrolled in any of these programs, you may still qualify based on household income.
What improvements are included?

Once approved for the program, a technician will visit your home to perform an energy audit. Based on the results of the audits, Housing Resources’ Weatherization team will complete appropriate improvements. You may even qualify for solar panels, a new furnace, and other improvements.

On average, weatherization improvements reduce a home’s air leakage by 35%!

We’ve saved enough energy to power approximately 631 cars for a year.

We installed enough attic insulation to cover nearly 9 football fields.

“I would like to thank the Housing Resources Weatherization Program and all of the Staff for the work and products they put into my home. I am 81 years old, live alone in a 1991 mobile home. I have a fixed income that barely covers my living expenses. The furnace, storm windows and insulation that were installed mean so much to me. The smaller things like shower heads, weather strips on doors and light bulbs are also ‘big items’ on my budget.”

Home Improvement Lending

Housing Resources offers affordable financing to income-qualifying homeowners to make essential home repairs and accessibility improvements. The program’s goal is to increase home safety and comfort while keeping loan payments affordable. Loan rates range from 0% to 3%, and Housing Resources customizes payments based on the homeowner’s ability to pay.

Essential repairs can improve health and safety. These include:

Increasing energy conservation

Repairing structural deficiencies including electrical, plumbing, and roofing

Repairing windows and foundation

Creating accessibility modifications such as ramps

Critical Repair Grants

There are no available critical repair grants at the moment. Check back in the future for updates.

The Critical Repair Grant Program provides minor grants to:

  • Repair or replace furnaces, swamp coolers, or other household appliances
  • Mitigate pest infestations
  • Repair damaged roofing
  • Correct carbon monoxide issues
  • Repair damage to plumbing including frozen pipes, water heater repairs
“The Rehabilitation Program definitely helped us! We had a hole in the floor in the living room. We needed a water heater, gutters, insulation on both ends and our pipes were exposed. This was a blessing! Would have been a year or two to even finish. The kitchen and bathroom are repaired with an increased value in our home. Super Program! It’s more of a home now.”
